Frequently Asked Questions

What is this site?

Upoc Watchdog is a citizen's group created with the primary purpose of informing the public about the dangers for kids in Upoc and the mobile web. We believe Upoc isn't doing enough to protect kids from their adult content.

Who are you people?

We are current and former long-time Upoc users who have tried every reasonable means to get Upoc to wake up to the problem they have, of online trollers and groomers going after their underage users. We are people just like you, with jobs and families. One of us recently ran for mayor of his town. Two of us are Federal law enforcement officers. We all have this in common: When we see something that we know is wrong, we don't just look the other way or stand idly by as it happens.

Aren't you worried that posting the usernames of people will lead to them getting harassed?

We certianly don't encourage that, but look at some reason: If Upoc would ban these users for their illegal behavior, no one could "harass" them there, could they? Also, part of what we're doing is informing the public just who these people are and what they do. Kinda tough to do that, and not identify the usernames huh?

Won't Upoc sue you for this?

First off, there's nothing to sue for. One cannot be sued for publishing one's opinions online. One cannot be sued for reporting the truth. However, even if there were grounds, We seriously doubt that Upoc would welcome all the negative publicity and the supeonas of all their records that would result. So, the answer to your question? No.

I'm a Upoc user or an employee. I don't believe a word of this. Who can I complain to?

You can sign up for our forums and have it out with us. Be careful with that though, intellectual honesty is contagious, you might catch some. It's also an anti-Kool-Aid zone, so don't be bringing any of that and expect anyone to drink it.

I happen to know some of you still use Upoc. Doesn't a "boycott" mean you shouldn't be?

Actually, no. We aren't calling for people to stop using the site. What we're calling for is an economic boycott by their carriers and advertisers. These can be reached from links at the end of the main article, and we encourage everyone to send letters, emails, make phone calls.

What do you expect Upoc to do? What would please you?

Currently, Upoc only conceals illegal content. We want them to dispose of it. We want them to be proactive in making their site a hostile environment for those who hunt children online. They refuse to do so.

How can Upoc do what you demand? Seems impossible.

Yes, it seems like a huge task, for a site with well over a million users and well over 10,000 usergroups. But it's certianly not impossible. It starts by them deciding they want to do it. Then, they delete and wipe out all this content, and put restrictions on usergroup creation. We have seen several sites do this. Many sites require Moderator approval for every usergroup created. It's not hard. Only requires effort and dedication to keeping your site clean.

Are you doing this for donations or money?

No. In fact, we won't accept monetary donations or any kind of financial reward. The banner ads we run here are given free of charge. The other sites we link to are merely ones we support. We want your time, not your dime.

How can I help?

Do the actions asked for at the conclusion of the main article . Economic pressure is all that big corporations like Upoc will listen to. Join our forums and help with our continuing investigations. Link your local media outlets to this site. Spread the word.
